It frees you up from worry, gets you through airports faster, and has that element of minimalism that I always fall for. I admit that lots of equipment would make it difficult, at the very least requiring a bag with a good suspension system. In any case, I hope your trip turns out well. I realized that when mine wouldn't update each time I traveled b/t Boston and Dallas. You have to go in and change it manually as far as I know. :( Sorry you have had to deal with so many delays!
