fine art film shoot, san jose california.

fine art film shoot, san jose california.
I really enjoyed my visit with the W family during my trip to Ohio. I wanted to document the family at this particular stage in their lives — settling into their new house and building up gardens… the young children and crazy dog, and the sense of pride at working hard and playing well.

I know you need formal portraits every once in awhile, but HOW FUN ARE THESE? I think everyone should have a batch of fun, realistic, and hilarious photos every year, because these are the candid-like photos your grandchildren are going to love someday- they show your sense of humor and personality. They show the lethargic way your daughter looks every afternoon (!!) or the 2 seconds of attention you have before your son zooms off on his next great adventure. Real life is beautiful and messy and HILARIOUS.

I am absolutely delighted with many of my international friends. German photographer Miriam Meerfeld is one of those persons whose sparkling personality wins over even the coldest of hearts. Back in 2007 she was living in NYC, and came to visit me in Boston to help out with some weddings. I am so glad we spent this cold Sunday morning together making portraits.
I had forgotten the photo shoot I did with Miriam, but when I looked back into my photo archives these images bring back the warmth of her smile and her mischievous but loving personality. Portraits have such an important function: to help us remember the good times and special people in our life. It makes me happy that my job is to help document personalities.

I only wonder what she was thinking to herself as she laid on the Persian carpet…

Totally unposed portrait, but inspired by photographer Laura Burlton.

Some cute photos from my mini shoot with Linus and family. Our original shoot was interrupted by a broken camera, so we’re in the process of rescheduling. Can’t wait!

What a delight to get to hang out with those whose weddings I have photographed in previous years.

Ice cream with an almost-3-year-old at Toscanini’s in Cambridge.

Lisa decided to purchase the collection of images from her photo session last year, so I am going back through and prepping the files for her. What a lovely set of images we got, and what a demonstration of fierce maternal love!

Monday afternoon was delightful. Perfect weather (sunny and 73 all day long) and a tea party in the park with my eight year old friend M.

It’s inspiring to watch her explore and create.
