The past month we have been traveling nonstop – every weekend a new location and a new event! I’ve done weddings in Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Maine, Massachusetts, and California recently. This weekend we’re headed out to Chicago to be guests at a wedding and then we’re off to eastern Europe!

I’ll be back in the office on Monday and Tuesday (July 27 and 28) doing minimal administrative work and finishing the proofing of recent portrait sessions while packing for Europe, then from Wednesday, July 29 through Friday, August 7 I will be offline and having adventures abroad in Bulgaria. Any print orders placed during this time will have an inadvertent extra 7 day delay in fulfillment.

Now for the really fun part…. a contest! I really enjoyed the “love shoot” promo from February over on the wedding site,  so I wanted to open up another contest for a new england couple.

casting call – calling all adult couples…. { DETAILS HERE!!! }

Every child is different and unique, but just like adults at a wedding, children in an unnatural environment often follow a pattern.

When kids come into a studio, they start out excitedly giving you the cheese smile and cutesy poses. Next, they relax and bop around and act all natural. The last stage when you know you have to take a break or wrap it up is when they get bored with you and ready to be done. Finally, when it’s all over, they don’t want to leave the studio, and ask if they can come back the next day!

Kayla was fun to have as our first studio child model. (Yep, that’s a wig.) We have a bunch of kooky, charming images from the hour or so that we spent together. Tammy and I enjoyed watching her bop around and I have to say that it was the first time I have had Britney Spears and Hannah Montana stations added to my Pandora queue!

I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for redheads, so when local Boston-area artist Julia Denos made my sweet little girl illustaration exactly to my specifications, I was thrilled and could not wait to get this portrait-specific site live so I could share her with the world.

I’m putting out a general casting call for another poster girl with curly red hair like this, between the ages of 4 and 9 years old. Ideally she would also have access to a little white dress for the photo shoot.

So if you know someone with a daughter who fits the bill, please have them get in contact with me. Or if you have a white dress we could borrow or have for the shoot, that would be spectacular!
