The day my camera broke.

It has happened before – Canon 5Ds are notorious for having a particular mirror come “unstuck” during use. The last time was in February 2008 right before our wedding when I was in San Francisco photographing an engagement session. The usual jokes about “we broke your camera… for real!” do apply, but those are usually reserved for grandpas as wedding guests flirting with the photographer.

Anyway, I was in Jamaica Plain MA with Brittany and Mike and their new adorable Linus (what kind of dog again guys?) on a BEAUTIFUL perfect Sunday afternoon. We were about 10 minutes into the session when aforementioned camera broke. Luckily, I was able to do a few more images with Brittany’s Canon rebel before rescheduling to complete the shoot on another day.

Beautiful things to be found at this time of year – the change in seasons is always fascinating to me.

Photos taken with a Ricoh brand point and shoot in square mode. My own ACR preset added to greatly enhance the "lomo" effect.

One of the perks I provide for my wedding clients is a complimentary maternity – baby portrait sitting.  Meredith and Kevin kept me in the loop about Kieran, and I was delighted to meet him a few weeks ago at their home in Arlington.  We had a fun portrait session and got some beautiful images that reflect the quirky and wonderful side of Meredith and Kevin and their new baby!

Every portrait session I try to do something unique and artful at the very end to satisfy my own creative curiosity. Recently I’ve been inspired by mother-baby images that show skin-to-skin contact, and asked Meredith if she’d be willing to strip down for this image with Kieran.

We shot against the orangey-yellow paint in their bedroom, and the subdued natural light gave a nice even look to the image.

Aren’t these two beautiful together? I hope someday Kieran has this image framed in his house to show his kids.

Digging around in my archives today, I found some images from a May 2007 session with these little guys.  Hilarious and mischievious!

So the city of Boston had no problem issuing me a parking ticket for street cleaning on April 1 (the first day of the year they “start” street cleaning rules) but they let the T stops collect trash like nobody’s business. I can appreciate that garbage accumulates over the winter and hides under the dirty snow for several months, but it’s clearly way past time to clean it up.  MBTA, please get your act together because this is ridiculous.

T riders… throwing your trash on the tracks is equally ludicrous. Please behave.
